More specifically I'm going to the Renaissance Festival in Texas on their pirate-themed weekend so I'm thinking old fashioned clothes and some props. Some old fashioned shoes or leather boots too.|||If this is for a costume--not clothing you are going to wear for a long time--then getting stuff for a low price is most important. So, check out the Salvation Army, Goodwill, and maybe St. Vincent de Paul stores. (St. Vincent de Paul is usually a bit more expensive than the others. It often has better quality items, but that's probably not a big issue for this purpose.)

I think you should start with Goodwill. They have a Dollar Store right next door, where you may be able to find some props to go with whatever clothes you come up with. Of course, whenever you go to a thrift store, you have to get lucky or imaginative when it comes to picking stuff up. They may or may not have what you want in stock that day.

Happy shopping.
