Gonzales is a suburb of Baton Rouge. It's own town.
I suggest Prairieville, Denham Springs and Walker if you want to live outside city limits.
Inside Baton Rouge, Highland Road by I-10 is very nice but spendy. Also, Jefferson Hwy area is growing and is nice also. (Stay away from North Baton Rouge!!)
