I live in Baton Rouge and have driven to Charleston, SC a couple times (on the way according to mapquest). I never had to pay a toll staying on the interstate, I doubt there are any for the remaining 300 miles.

Just wondering if you have considered flying. That's easily a 15-16 hour drive and using an average mpg of 25, you're looking at about $125-150 for gas. I'm sure you can find a flight for that much or cheaper if planned ahead of time|||I have driven from LA to NC recently and did not pay any tolls. This site lists the toll roads/bridges inside VA, and only one or two affect Virginia Beach:
