I'm only 20 and live in Baton Rouge, LA and was curious where one could purchase a cheap handgun for self defense. Lately there have been some break-ins around my apartment complex and a cheap pistol would make me feel a lot better but I have no idea where one goes to purchase a gun... how long I would have to wait... how much it would cost... any help is appreciated.|||If you are not familiar with firearms I would suggest that you buy a 12 gauge pump shotgun instead. They are intimidating to people looking down the barrel as they climb through your window; and you don't have to be a really good marksman to hit something. Also, you don't have to worry about shooting through a wall and blowing up your neighbor's TV set.|||get the shotgun.....22's are for squirrels and rats...anything less than a 9mm(identical to a 38 so far as statistics go)dramatically reduces your stopping power with one shot...70% to 30%..that is a big drop...which means more shots and better hits......as of where to go...I hear ol ray nagen has a few of your local nieghbors guns and won't give em' back to thier rightful law abiding owners...if you offer him a buck ,He seems to be the type guy to maybe bend the rules for his own purposes......|||go Tigers!
